DEAD WINTER CARPENTERS WITH HONEY DON'T @ VOLCANIC THEATRE PUB

Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR

Parallel 44 Presents is proud to present the return of Dead Winter Carpenters! This band always brings a great live show and is one of the favorites of the Bend bluegrass and folk/rock community. Opening for DWC is Bend's own Honey Don't. You don't want to miss this!

Doors at 8:00PM. DWC at 10:00PM $8 advance sales / $12 d.o.s. All Ages

About Dead Winter Carpenters: In a time when music has been transformed and genre lines are left behind like the seasons, Dead Winter Carpenters are producing an ever-evolving style of music. The time spent, both in the studio in the woods and criss-crossing the American countryside, has provided Dead Winter Carpenters with a ground-breaking sound that blends Americana roots-rock with a tinge of straightforward ‘tell-it-like-it-is’ Alt. Country that is as hard-hitting as it is whimsical. While the roadsigns and towns pass by the windows on down the highway of tour, DWC are writing original material based on their life experiences. “Dirt Nap”, the band’s latest EP, is a musical journey which speaks magnitudes to these experiences.

Foot-stomping original tunes blended with the band’s onstage presence highlighted by the vocal melodies and five part harmonies, ferocious fluidity of the fiddle, deep pounding thump and thud of the upright bass, country ramblings of the telecaster and acoustic guitars, and the driving drums all meld together to create an experience that is sure leave you wanting more…

The five piece outfit is:

Jenni Charles -fiddler/vocalist Dave Lockhart -upright bassist/vocalist Jesse Dunn -rhythm guitarist/vocalist Bryan Daines -lead guitarist/vocalist Brian Huston -drummer/vocalist

About Honey Don't: Honey Don't is the musical union of Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, a duo also well known as one-half of Paonia, Colorado's old-time bluegrass band, Sweet Sunny South.

Their music may be delivered acoustic or electric and is based in the folk tradition with bluegrass and old-time at its deepest roots. Bill is a well respected, and award winning songwriter within and beyond the Colorado circuit and Shelley is a skilled bass player and vocalist. They’ve been making music together for well over a decade and like a fine wine or exceptional bourbon, the best of their qualities have naturally distilled into a truly unique vibe with a certain sound and feel that has developed into a trademark.

Whether it’s a sweet love song, a tribute to veterans, or a rocking boogie-woogie number, their music is always delivered in a comfortable casual way that pulls the listener in and has them hanging on every word.

ELEKTRAPOD @ VOLCANIC THEATRE PUB

Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR

Elektrapod returns to Volcanic Theatre Pub for another legendary night of hot sweaty grooves ! If you haven't caught an Elektrapod show at VTP yet, you really must do it. This band stands out as one of the hottest bands ever to have emerged from the Central Oregon scene. Doors at 9PM. The show starts at 10PM and will go late. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. All Ages.

Tickets available at BendTicket.com or at The Cosmic Depot (no fees. cash only)

About Elektrapod: Elektrapod is the brain child of guitarist Gabe Johnson aka Dr. Pocket (Jive Talkin' Robots, Soulwork, El Dana Di Crocente) and keyboardist Brad Jones aka KEEZ (FloorRide, Keegan Smith & The Fam, Tony Smiley/MOWO). Formed with the vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Disco and Riff Rock w/ Electronica and Jamband sensibilities, Gabe and Brad aimed from the start to create a band that would truly stand out in their home market of Bend, Oregon and would also be strong enough to hold their own with regional and national acts. There is no doubt that they have accomplished just that in a very short time, truly impressing every single audience they've performed in front of thus far. Tapping Matt Smith (Biddewah Trunk) on drums, Tyler Mason (Tone Red, El Dante, FloorRide) on bass, Jarrod Donatelli (2nd Hand Soldiers, El Dante) on percussion and uber-talented young diva Ze Rox (Jaccuzi) on vocals, they have assembled a truly colorful collection of players, all of whom have tremendous chops and experience, as well as strong creative presence and drive. ElektraPod's repertoire is being built from the original works of Gabe Johnson, Brad Jones and Ze Rox and yet the band has also found group-writing very productive and rewarding, drawing on a lot of magic and synergy in a very short time. After high profile appearances at Deschutes Brewery's 25th Anniversary Concert, Bend Roots Revival, Bite of Bend, Cruxapalooza, Bend Fall Fest and McMenamins Halloween Celebration, Elektrapod is quickly becoming known as one of the hottest live bands to have ever emerged from the Central Oregon area. MOON MOUNTAIN RAMBLERS @ MCMENAMINS' OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL - THU 4/16 (FREE SHOW)

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

Join Parallel 44 Presents and McMenamins Old St. Francis School for another great night of free music in Bend with the Moon Mountain Ramblers!

Thursday, April 16th at 7:00PM

The Moon Mountain Ramblers have always stayed on the creative edge of acoustic music. This increasingly popular group (voted best band by readers of local paper, The Source Weekly, in 2004, 2008, 2009 and best wedding band in 2012), has consistently been one of the hardest working and most successful bands in Oregon for a decade.

At first glance, the Ramblers may look like a traditional bluegrass band, with the classic instrumentation of fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and upright bass. However, with the addition of full percussion and musical inspirations with no boundaries, this band has truly found their own unique niche in the world of acoustic music. With tasteful flavors of Celtic, Bluegrass, Jazz, Latin, Rock and more, MMR can most closely be labeled as an Acoustic Americana, Jamgrass Band.

Doors at 8PM. Show at 9PM. 21+. Free show.

About World's Finest:

Funky Punky Acoustic Dub Ska Honkytonk Reggae Jam Bluegrass Rowdiness!!!

"Since early 2011, World's Finest has turned many ears and hearts on to their one-of-a-kind sound. Creating what could best ...be described as Neo-Americana, they've bridged the gap between folk and bluegrass, ska and rock. Comprised of five members: Chris Couch (acoustic guitar, vox), Dan Hurley (electric banjo, vox), Sean McLean (sax, vox), Evan Malfer (upright bass), and Mike Apodaca (drums), the band constantly pushes their instrumentation to new limits; both in the studio and during their high-energy live performances. As individuals, they have separately played and lived music for many years. As a unit, they undoubtedly have found inspiration in each other's taste, talents, and sensibilities.

Strong songwriting, inventive band interplay, beautiful vocal harmonies, and vivid improvisation are only a handful of the reasons why the band has garnered critical acclaim and an ever-growing regional and national fan base. With two full length albums, Pattern (2012) and "33" (2012), the group is amassing their strongest material yet for their newest record, due to be recorded in the spring/summer of 2014.

Constantly hitting the road, World's Finest has already toured up and down the West Coast, playing in such beautifully renown venues as The Crystal Ballroom, The Wonder Ballroom, Horning's Hideout, and the WOW Hall. Never satisfied to settle, World's Finest is gearing up to tour through new markets in the U.S. and throughout the world."

All Ages. $7 adv. / $10 d.o.s. Tickets available at Cosmic Depot with no fees or at BendTicket. Doors at 8:30PM. 2 sets between 9:30PM and 12:30AM

Blue Lotus is an up and coming rock and roll jam band that is making waves across the West Coast. Formed in 2010 after a chance encounter at the Oregon Country Fair, songwriter Brandelyn Rose and now 19 year-old guitar prodigy Felix Blades sparked a unique and collaborative friendship that has attracted other talented artists. The rhythm section comprised of Ben Bosse on bass, Peter Allen on percussion, and Alex Huber on drums, drive the band with their ability to pulse out dynamic grooves that keep their audience shaking. Keyboardist Nick Agorgianitis brings his own blend of soul to the mix, further enhancing the bands eclectic sound.

Blue Lotus features original songs written and composed by Rose with each band member arranging their own instrumentation. Rooted in Rock and Blues, and experimenting with elements of Bluegrass, Americana, Jazz and Funk; the band fuses styles to create a high-energy, fun and danceable melodic hybrid. This group is already making lasting impressions with a growing West Coast fan base, including radio play across several states. They have sold CDs internationally and have been singing their hearts out on the festival stages including the Oregon Country Fair. They have hosted sit in live jams with members of Melvin Seals and JGB, and have shared the bill with RJD2, Pimps of Joytime, Phutureprimitive, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Fruition, The Shook Twins, Tony Saunders, Afromassive, Scott Law, Jerry Joseph, Cast of Clowns, Sophistaphunk and many more. WILDERNESS @ MCMENAMINS' OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

Parallel44Presents brings another rocking night of music to McMenamins with the Bend based Alt-Country-Space-Noise-Rock with a hint of class band, Wilderness.

Wilderness is a band dancing somewhere between the lines of rock n roll, folk, and experimental-noise-pop… If there is such a thing… Appropriately described by the Bulletin’s music editor, Ben Salmon, as a “..north-of-the-border version of Southwestern roots act Calexico, or an earthbound take on Explosions in the Sky’s celestial jams, …or Wilco indulging their ragged edge. With an experimental streak that occasionally runs the stop sign.” Band members Bradley David Parsons (drums), Nick “Sassy” Graham (bass), Nora K.W. Smith (keys, vocals, noise makers) and Jared Nelson Smith (guitars, vocals, buttons) together create a wholly unique sound that not only invites but challenges and inspires. An energetic, and sometimes chaotic live show that’s as dynamic as it is engaging, Wilderness is just as the name implies, not only a quiet place to reflect, but the unknown, the edge, the other side of the line.

Wilderness is currently touring in support of their self-released debut album “Homeward From the Battle” and is currently in the beginning stages of a sophomore effort. Expect to hear from them very very soon. And see them live if they make it near you. You won’t regret it.
