ORGONE W/ ELEKTRAPOD @ THE DOMINO ROOM - THUR 6/11

The Domino Room, 51 Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR

It's going to be a HOT night at The Domino Room this June with the return of Orgone as Parallel 44 Presents continues to bring raw and gritty soul music to Bend and this night will be no exception. Tickets are $12 advanced or $15 at the door. This is a 21+ show. Doors open at 8:00 and the music begins to groove at 9:00PM with Central Oregon's funkiest band Elektrapod.

About Orgone:

For over a decade, Orgone has been steaming up nightclubs and drenching the largest music festivals in the country in sweat. Serving a cold-blooded concoction of deep soul, rare funk, and afro-disco with a raw rock star edge that is uniquely LA, Orgone’s music grabs you by the collar, pulls you to your feet, and shoves you out onto the dance floor. Tough, sexy, and adventurous, this sonic muscle car shifts through multiple gears from slyly slinky to seismically cinematic, while remaining spacious and uncluttered. eMusic says: “Their music is terrifically unfussy, big slabs of grizzled R&B, greasy as fatback, and thick as a very particular kind of smoke.” For their searing live performances and warm, dirty homegrown recordings, Orgone has been called “One of the heaviest acts we’ve heard in years” by Dusty Groove America.

The band is a symbiosis of eight seasoned musicians, at the core of which are keyboardist Dan Hastie and guitarist Sergio Rios who started creating classic sounds as green teens brought together by a mutual affinity for raw soul recordings. Members of Orgone have collaborated/performed with the Roots, Al Green, Gil Scott-Heron, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Breakestra, Thievery Corporation, and the Monophonics. As tight in the studio as they are on stage, …as the backing band on Cee Lo Green’s multiple Grammy Award-winning track “Fool for You” and Alicia Keys’ “As I Am” album.

Up front and unmistakable is Adryon de Leon, Orgone’s lightning rod, whose hearty, agile vocals are an intoxicating foil to the gritty intensity of the band. Orgone is currently getting their hands dirty in KillionSound, their Fortress of Soulitude, injecting the pure, passionate heat of their live sound into wax. Throughout this year, the band will maintain a strong touring presence while tantalizing crowds with new material from their upcoming album, which was released into the wild in the Fall of 2014.

ACORN PROJECT @ 4 PEAKS FESTIVAL

The Rockin' A Ranch, 19449 Tumalo Resevoir Rd, Bend

With very little musical boundaries, Acorn Project takes their audience on a unique journey each night. Seamlessly blending deep electro-funk grooves, psychedelic rock, signature soundscapes, and electronic dance music translates to a very unique live experience, one that is filled with the passion brought to the stage at every Acorn performance. That passion is contagious, resulting in the regularly packed houses for this jamtronica act and a high demand tour schedule. “Acorn Project, who conjures up the appealing marriage of mid-period Pink Floyd, early Radiohead, and the blues-jazz-dub whap of Morphine… cuts a broad cloth that could fit classic rockers, jam fans, electro freaks and jazz heads with taste for prog. Often mélanges of this kind come out mushy and indistinct, too many ingredients dulling the sharpness of individual elements, but Acorn’s production and arrangement savvy keep things bright and together throughout. A hard touring bunch… unlike many road dogs, they clearly know their way around a studio, too.” In the past several years Acorn Project have appeared live at numerous music festivals including Earthdance (California), Sonic Bloom (Colorado), String Cheese Incident @ Horning’s Hideout (Oregon), Summer Meltdown Festival (Washington), Telus Live @ Whistler (BC), Seattle Hempfest, and Eugene Celebration amongst many others including their own successful annual festival productions WONK and UMF at home. Now with over 700 performances and a fervent fanbase in major U.S. markets like Seattle, Portland, Denver and San Francisco, Acorn continues to grow into a mighty oak from deeply seeded roots. Up and coming, always on the brink, Acorn Project is focused on establishing themselves as a national touring act while continuing to spawn a forward thinking and conscious movement amongst the community in their wake.

ELEKTRAPOD @ BITE OF BEND

Downtown Bend, Bend

Elektrapod returns to entertain the community as the Sunday headliner for this year's Bite of Bend! Elektrapod just keeps getting hotter and hotter with every show and stands out as one of the hottest bands ever to have emerged from the Central Oregon scene. Show starts at 5PM and is an all ages free event.

About ELEKTRAPOD: Elektrapod is the brain child of guitarist Gabe Johnson aka Dr. Pocket (Jive Talkin' Robots, Soulwork, El Dana Di Crocente) and keyboardist Brad Jones aka KEEZ (FloorRide, Keegan Smith & The Fam, Tony Smiley/MOWO). Formed with the vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Disco and Riff Rock w/ Electronica and Jamband sensibilities, Gabe and Brad aimed from the start to creat...e a band that would truly stand out in their home market of Bend, Oregon and would also be strong enough to hold their own with regional and national acts. There is no doubt that they have accomplished just that in a very short time, truly impressing every single audience they've performed in front of thus far. Tapping Matt Smith (Biddewah Trunk) on drums, Tyler Mason (Tone Red, El Dante, FloorRide) on bass, Jarrod Donatelli (2nd Hand Soldiers, El Dante) on percussion and uber-talented young diva Ze Rox (Jaccuzi) on vocals, they have assembled a truly colorful collection of players, all of whom have tremendous chops and experience, as well as strong creative presence and drive. Elektrapod's repertoire is being built from the original works of Gabe Johnson, Brad Jones and Ze Rox and yet the band has also found group-writing very productive and rewarding, drawing on a lot of magic and synergy in a very short time. After high profile appearances at Deschutes Brewery's 25th Anniversary Concert, Bend Roots Revival, Bite of Bend, Cruxapalooza, Bend Fall Fest and McMenamins Halloween Celebration, Elektrapod is quickly becoming known as one of the hottest live bands to have ever emerged from the Central Oregon area. BRENT ALAN & HIS FUNKY FRIENDS @ MCMENAMINS' OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

Join Brent Alan & His Funky Friends for a free night of music and dance at McMenamins!

With a simple guitar in hand and a voice of mysteriously solid power, Brent Alan delivers us to the ever elusive spirit. His fans will eagerly tell you they have been taken to places not frequented in ordinary experience. The music pouring out of this man is linked to some vast force. Brent Alan has learned how to step out of the way and let the music come through.

Born in Hawaii, Brent first became musically inspired crawling around on the foot pedals of his father's Hammond Organ in the sultry tropical serenity of Oahu. It's no surprise you'll often find him writing melodies and lyrics while eating pineapple on the nose of his surfboard.

Central Oregon may be home today, but as a voracious traveler, Brent Alan is perpetually spreading his music across our planet. He is a favorite studio musician, record producer, and collaborator working with an enormous variety of contemporaries. Creating with others adds to the constantly evolving dimensions of his own songwriting and performing.

The sheer number of instruments Brent Alan has befriended is indicative of a musician capable of a surprising number of musical styles. From rootsy, luminescent acoustic journeys to funky, gutsy, electric soul-jams he sews up the divide between illusion and truth.

Like a chef in the throws of a culinary frenzy, Brent approaches his songs with a heart full of wild abandon, rejecting the common tendency to over-think the moment. Often described as captivating and inspiring, Brent Alan's music has been known to leave listeners changed and enchanted.

POLYRHYTHMICS w/ GUESTS - PHISH AFTER PARTY

Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR

Parallel 44 Presents this special post-Phish Rager featuring a long night of Polyrhythmics, at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Wednesday, July 22nd. The show will start at 10:30PM and will go very late. Just SIX blocks from Les Schwab Amphitheater !

About Polyrhythmics: Original hard-driving, modern afro-beat and syncopated, horn-driven funk. That is the recipe that Polyrhythmics have crafted and delivered to packed clubs, and festival crowds throughout the west coast in the past 3 years. The 8 members of this dynamic world-beat orchestra, weave a clever web of deep, hypnotic grooves, creative, yet melodic interplay, clever horn-hooks, and searing solos that ignite every dance-floor that has laid before them.

Despite their proven reputation as performers, delivering a non-stop a Live show experience unmatched in today’s instrumental musical landscape, the heart and inspiration for this band’s existence is the art of recording, documenting the art, and laying it down to tape.

Founded in late 2010, Polyrhythmics was formed by Ben Bloom and Grant Schroff, who quickly gathered some of the most talented and highly sought-after performers in the North West to record an EP. Ben and Grant were coming from different musical communities, from within the NW. Previous to this point, Ben had been on a musical journey, performing and making 45’s with recording artist, arranger and composer Joel Ricci, aka Lucky Brown and his “West Sound Union”, and playing in various soul, funk, rock and R&B collectives in the NW. Grant , a graduate from Cornish School of Music, had been performing various esteemed Jazz, funk, hip-hop and reggae groups throughout Seattle. The two met through mutual friends and had performed on a few bills together on several occasions, but until now had not collaborated.

Using primitive gear, the expertise of the band’s Bass player / recording engineer, Jason Gray ,and a “live, all in one -room”, low-budget recording technique, the band captured magic, the very 1st time the record button was pushed. The resulting 6 song EP became a cult classic and quickly sold out at shows. Highlights such as “Pink Wasabi”, and “Klompton” have since been re-released on 7 inch 45 by Electric Cowbell Records and Kept Records and are also sold-out.

In June of 2011, using crowd-sourced funds, the band released their first full length “Labrador”, and enjoyed immediate attention by such domestic tastemakers as DJ Prestige, Dusty Groove America and Fat Beats Records, and Internationally by Juno Records in the UK, Paris DJ’s in France and Jet Set Records in Japan. The 1st run of Cd’s quickly sold-out at shows, and the 1st single “The Imposter” was picked up and released by Kept Records on 7 inch in November of 2011 and enjoyed immediate success on radio stations far and wide, including KEXP in Seattle. Shortly after the release, Polyrhythmics was named best band in Seattle, by Seattle Magazine in late Nov of 2011.

From the very 1st tour, the buzz about the band started to spread, and funk fans looking to get down showed up in droves throughout the winter and early spring. Their non-stop, “leave it all on the stage”, 3+ hrs shows, slamming arrangements, top-notch musicianship and absolute command of their ethos, earned the band coveted spots at festivals and clubs across America.

The single, “Moon Cabbage” was suspiciously released on April 20th 2013 , and was spinning all over the globe within days. The big surprise was that when folks got the records, “Moon Cabbage” was the B side, with the A side featuring the song “Bobo” an all out dance floor banger that had been a staple of Polyrhythmics live shows for the past year. Excitement over the 45 was immediate and reviews from all over the world came pouring in in different languages.

Today, Polyrhythmics are an unstoppable force in both on stage and in the studio. With live repertoire of over 60 original compositions, a full length album called “Libra Stripes on Kept Records,” the band is firing on all cylinders. Taking the experiences of a nearly 4-year brotherhood, Polyrhythmics are just hitting their stride, writing and arranging some of the best material yet and setting their sites on the world stage.

Polyrhythmics are : Ben Bloom: Guitars Grant Schroff: Drums Nathan Spicer: Keys Lalo Bello: Percussion Jason Gray: Bass Scott Morning: Trumpet Elijah Clark : Trombone Art Brown: Sax and Flute
