ELEKTRAPOD @ MCMENAMINS' OKTOBERFEST CELEBRATION

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

After a stellar performance at The Bite of Bend in June, ELEKTRAPOD is bringing the funky beats back to their hometown for McMenamins' Oktoberfest Celebration! Seriously, Elektrapod just keeps getting hotter and hotter with every show and stands out as one of the hottest bands to have emerged from the Oregon scene in recent years. Come see why ! This show is a free all ages show and Elektrapod will kick things off starting at 8PM.

About ELEKTRAPOD: Elektrapod is the brain child of guitarist Gabe Johnson aka Dr. Pocket (Jive Talkin' Robots, Soulwork, El Dante) and keyboardist Brad Jones aka KEEZ (FloorRide, Keegan Smith & The Fam, Tony Smiley/MOWO). Formed with the vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Disco and Riff Rock w/ Electronica and Jamband sensibilities, Gabe and Brad aimed from the start to create a band that would truly stand out in their home market of Bend, Oregon and would also be strong enough to hold their own with regional and national acts. There is no doubt that they have accomplished just that in a very short time, truly impressing every single audience they've performed in front of thus far. Tapping Matt Smith (Biddewah Trunk) on drums, Tyler Mason (Tone Red, El Dante, FloorRide) on bass, Jarrod Donatelli (2nd Hand Soldiers, El Dante) on percussion and uber-talented young diva Ze Rox (Jaccuzi) on vocals, they have assembled a truly colorful collection of players, all of whom have tremendous chops and experience, as well as strong creative presence and drive. Elektrapod's repertoire is being built from the original works of Gabe Johnson, Brad Jones and Ze Rox and yet the band has also found group-writing very productive and rewarding, drawing on a lot of magic and synergy in a very short time. Come check out what all the fuss is about !

Elements from genres including house, breakbeat, downtempo, jazz, and funk, tight compositions mixed with improvisation and jamming, and frequent contributions from guest musicians define a typical Yak show. The band has just released its first full-length album, “Real World Conditions”, and will soon be bringing its unique mix of live chops, electronic techniques, and monkey noises to a venue near you.

TURKUAZ "THE DIGITONIUM TOUR" w/ THE QUICK & EASY BOYS

The Domino Room, 51 Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR

Parallel 44 Presents and Live for Live Music Presents bring The Digitonium Tour to The Domino Room . This will be a fantastic night of Power Funk with Brooklyn's own TURKUAZ. These guys and gals make up one of the most powerful live Funk/Soul bands in the nation. Portland's The Quick & Easy Boys will kick things off. Don't miss this one ! 8:00PM doors, 9:00PM show.

$12 advance tickets are available at BendTicket (link above). Door price is $15 so be sure to buy in advance. 21+

About Turkuaz: Turkuaz is a Brooklyn-based pop-rock nonet that is redefining with their “PowerFunk” sound. Their intricately arranged songs are built on thick grooves, driven by a powerhouse rhythm section and interlaced with swirling guitar and synth lines. On top of this rock solid foundation, lyrical jabs and swells that serve as both subject matter and rhythmic reinforcement are delivered by four distinct vocalists, all framed by tight horn lines and punctuated with left hooks and right angles.

Digitonium (Techne Records), Turkuaz’s second national LP release, has more of a Peter Gabriel and Talking Heads feel and evokes the best of the ’80’s dance music. Upon close examination, the Dada-esque slurry of words and lyrical imagery reveals Digitonium to be a concept album at its core. Repeated phrases are intertwined throughout, and themes of empowerment and self-actualization, glimpsed in metaphors borrowed from Plato’s cave, a dystopian technological future and the archetypal characters of the myths of Avalon are developed through various tracks. Supported by transitional interludes, these elements make Digitonium feel like the score to an animated film, at times.

Following a Summer packed with high profile festival performances throughout North America, Turkuaz will embark on a national club tour in support of this cross-over release, and they shine on stage, as well as in the studio. Constant, coast-to-coast touring over the last three years has earned the band a passionate, growing fan base.

Now, with the support of comprehensive distribution, a commercial AAA, college and specialty radio campaign, first rate publicity, a growing retail presence and a national media partner presenting the tour, Turkuaz is poised to break out for a more mainstream audience.

Turkuaz is: Dave Brandwein – Lead & Backing Vocals / Guitar Taylor Shell – Bass Michelangelo Carubba – Drums Craig Brodhead – Guitar / Synths Josh Schwartz – Tenor & Baritone Sax / Lead & Backing Vocals / Percussion Greg Sanderson – Alto & Tenor Sax / Backing Vocals / Percussion Chris Brouwers – Trumpet / Keys / Backing Vocals / Percussion Sammi Garett – Lead & Backing Vocals / Tambourine Shira Elias – Lead & Backing Vocals.

SHAFTY - A TRIBUTE TO PHISH

Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR

We can't get enough Phish here in Bend so Parallel 44 Presents is bringing SHAFTY - A TRIBUTE TO PHISH to the Volcanic Theatre Pub on Friday, November 6th at 9:00PM for an all ages night full of jams. Advanced tickets are $8 at Bend Ticket (link above) or at Cosmic Depot (no fees). Tickets will be $12 at the door. Big thanks to our title sponsor Lunchbox Alchemy for helping to make this happen!

About Shafty - Portland's Tribute to Phish:

What began as essentially a goof – a chance to throw down some familiar dancy beats and jam for whoever felt like listening - lit a spark under an unseen powder keg of Phish fans in the Portland, Oregon music scene. Brett and Rob spent more time talking about the possibility of putting a Phish tribute together than actually practicing, prior to that first performance at local basement pub The Goodfoot Lounge, in February of 2012. Expectations for attendance were moderate at best, yet before the band played the first note, there was a line out the door, culminating in a jam filled celebration of the music of Phish to an over-capacity crowd! The demand for a repeat was high, and Shafty was born. If there's a motive, it's to recreate the energy of a Phish show, with the attitude of playful band-audience interaction at the forefront, sharp musical skill acting as a behind-the-scenes glue to hold it all together. Over the first year alone, the band played 80+ unique songs, ranging from spoken word moments such as Lengthwise, to epic compositions including You Enjoy Myself and The Curtain (With), already to multiple sold-out and near sold out audiences.

2013 saw a new lineup, with focused energy on compositions. Several shows that crossed the 4-hour mark reared their heads in the form of private events. On Halloween, Shafty chose the Phish album "Rift" in its entirety for the costume set. On New Year's Eve, Punch You in the Eye was the song of choice to countdown, with an extended introduction, replacing "Hey" with "10, 9,8 ..."; after midnight, the band debuted two songs from Phish's brand new upcoming album Wingsuit (6 months later officially released as "Fuego").

As the band embarks on their 2015 adventures, their songlist is growing strong, now at a staggering 175 songs, including brand new Phish material such as Martian Monster, Very Long Fuse, Shipwreck, and more from the most recent Halloween shows. Material from 2014's album "Fuego" have become reliable staples of sets. A notable "Story of the Ghostbusters" mashup made news on Jambase.com, and the usual hijinks of slicing, dicing, and unpredictably rearranging songs continue. The band has played outside of the Portland area - in Eugene, as well as other states including Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

POLECAT w/ CROW AND THE CANYON @ VOLCANIC THEATRE PUB

Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr, Bend, OR

Parallel 44 Presents is always proud to present the return of Polecat one of the West's most innovative and exciting live bands to Volcanic Theatre Pub. Their last show at VTP was a truly magical night and we expect this one to be even more fun. Portland's Crow and the Canyon will kick things off with music at 9:00PM. Many thanks to our title sponsor Lunchbox Alchemy for helping to make this show happen!

Doors are at 8PM. All Ages. $12 advance / $15 door.

About POLECAT:

Formed in Bellingham, Washington in Spring 2010, Polecat has traveled all over Northwest U.S., performing over 400 shows in four years. Their unique instrumentation enables them to seamlessly blend genres including bluegrass, country, celtic, rock, reggae, and world music into their sound. The general appeal of Polecat comes from their unique take on roots music and their interactive and high energy live shows.

About CROW AND THE CANYON: The foursome knew they were on to something after their first tour, which left them better—as friends and as musicians—than before they left. Their sound is somewhere between Lake Street Dive and Greensky Bluegrass, though if all three were sharing a bill Crow and the Canyon would still definitely stand apart. Live, they drink wine and whiskey and play off the vibe of their crowd, sometimes turning up the rock ‘n’ roll, sometimes going completely acoustic for a second encore. Watch the band long enough and you’ll keep coming back to their name. The crow flies high, exploring new terrain, while the canyon is grounded, in tradition and form. Both, however, are features of the land’s end, that ethereal place where there are no roads and music thrives
