Blue Lotus is an up and coming rock and roll jam band that is making waves across the West Coast. Formed in 2010 after a chance encounter at the Oregon Country Fair, songwriter Brandelyn Rose and now 19 year-old guitar prodigy Felix Blades sparked a unique and collaborative friendship that has attracted other talented artists. The rhythm section comprised of Ben Bosse on bass, Peter Allen on percussion, and Alex Huber on drums, drive the band with their ability to pulse out dynamic grooves that keep their audience shaking. Keyboardist Nick Agorgianitis brings his own blend of soul to the mix, further enhancing the bands eclectic sound.

Blue Lotus features original songs written and composed by Rose with each band member arranging their own instrumentation. Rooted in Rock and Blues, and experimenting with elements of Bluegrass, Americana, Jazz and Funk; the band fuses styles to create a high-energy, fun and danceable melodic hybrid. This group is already making lasting impressions with a growing West Coast fan base, including radio play across several states. They have sold CDs internationally and have been singing their hearts out on the festival stages including the Oregon Country Fair. They have hosted sit in live jams with members of Melvin Seals and JGB, and have shared the bill with RJD2, Pimps of Joytime, Phutureprimitive, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Fruition, The Shook Twins, Tony Saunders, Afromassive, Scott Law, Jerry Joseph, Cast of Clowns, Sophistaphunk and many more. You don't want to miss a chance to see them live!

WORLD'S FINEST CD RELEASE PARTY @ THE ALADDIN THEATER

The Aladdin Theater, 3116 SE 11th, Portland

Join World's Finest onn Saturday, April 24 for their CD Release Party!

World's Finest is one of the hottest acts in the West!

Doors at 7PM. Show at 8PM. All ages $12 adv./$15 d.os.

About World's Finest:

Funky Punky Acoustic Dub Ska Honkytonk Reggae Jam Bluegrass Rowdiness!!!

"Since early 2011, World's Finest has turned many ears and hearts on to their one-of-a-kind sound. Creating what could best ...be described as Neo-Americana, they've bridged the gap between folk and bluegrass, ska and rock. Comprised of five members: Chris Couch (acoustic guitar, vox), Dan Hurley (electric banjo, vox), Sean McLean (sax, vox), Evan Malfer (upright bass), and Mike Apodaca (drums), the band constantly pushes their instrumentation to new limits; both in the studio and during their high-energy live performances. As individuals, they have separately played and lived music for many years. As a unit, they undoubtedly have found inspiration in each other's taste, talents, and sensibilities.

Strong songwriting, inventive band interplay, beautiful vocal harmonies, and vivid improvisation are only a handful of the reasons why the band has garnered critical acclaim and an ever-growing regional and national fan base. With two full length albums, Pattern (2012) and "33" (2012), the group is amassing their strongest material yet for their newest record, due to be recorded in the spring/summer of 2014.

Constantly hitting the road, World's Finest has already toured up and down the West Coast, playing in such beautifully renown venues as The Crystal Ballroom, The Wonder Ballroom, Horning's Hideout, and the WOW Hall. Never satisfied to settle, World's Finest is gearing up to tour through new markets in the U.S. and throughout the world."

WILDERNESS @ MCMENAMINS' OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

Parallel44Presents brings another rocking night of music to McMenamins with the Bend based Alt-Country-Space-Noise-Rock with a hint of class band, Wilderness.

Wilderness is a band dancing somewhere between the lines of rock n roll, folk, and experimental-noise-pop… If there is such a thing… Appropriately described by the Bulletin’s music editor, Ben Salmon, as a “..north-of-the-border version of Southwestern roots act Calexico, or an earthbound take on Explosions in the Sky’s celestial jams, …or Wilco indulging their ragged edge. With an experimental streak that occasionally runs the stop sign.” Band members Bradley David Parsons (drums), Nick “Sassy” Graham (bass), Nora K.W. Smith (keys, vocals, noise makers) and Jared Nelson Smith (guitars, vocals, buttons) together create a wholly unique sound that not only invites but challenges and inspires. An energetic, and sometimes chaotic live show that’s as dynamic as it is engaging, Wilderness is just as the name implies, not only a quiet place to reflect, but the unknown, the edge, the other side of the line.

Wilderness is currently touring in support of their self-released debut album “Homeward From the Battle” and is currently in the beginning stages of a sophomore effort. Expect to hear from them very very soon. And see them live if they make it near you. You won’t regret it.

Doors at 6PM. Music at 7PM. Free show. All ages.

Join Parallel 44 Presents and McMenamins' for the return of Oregon's own Asher Fulero Band!

Asher Fulero (Floydian Slips, Everyone Orchestra, Scott Law, Surrounded By Ninjas) is an all-around keyboard hero of studio and stage, and this is his new piano-led, vocal-oriented jam-jazz-rock band featuring bassist Brett McConnell (Shafty), guitarist Darvey Santner (The Goodfoot Allstars), and drummer Kyle Owen (The Junebugs). They play a solid mix of catchy, imaginative original songs, exploratory instrumentals, and classic covers of favorites from Pink Floyd, Phish, Steely Dan, Peter Gabriel and more obscure songs; all given the band's fun, open-format, improvisatory treatment and jet-powered by Fulero's inspired flights of extreme piano technique and the band's shared interest in the space where tight songs meet group improvisation.

ORGONE @ THE DOMINO ROOM - THUR 6/11

The Domino Room, 51 Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR

It's going to be a HOT night at The Domino Room this June with the return of Orgone as Parallel 44 Presents continues to bring raw and gritty soul music to Bend and this night will be no exception. Tickets are $12 advanced or $15 at the door. This is a 21+ show. Doors open at 8:00 and the music begins to groove at 9:00PM.

About Orgone:

For over a decade, Orgone has been steaming up nightclubs and drenching the largest music festivals in the country in sweat. Serving a cold-blooded concoction of deep soul, rare funk, and afro-disco with a raw rock star edge that is uniquely LA, Orgone’s music grabs you by the collar, pulls you to your feet, and shoves you out onto the dance floor. Tough, sexy, and adventurous, this sonic muscle car shifts through multiple gears from slyly slinky to seismically cinematic, while remaining spacious and uncluttered. eMusic says: “Their music is terrifically unfussy, big slabs of grizzled R&B, greasy as fatback, and thick as a very particular kind of smoke.” For their searing live performances and warm, dirty homegrown recordings, Orgone has been called “One of the heaviest acts we’ve heard in years” by Dusty Groove America.

The band is a symbiosis of eight seasoned musicians, at the core of which are keyboardist Dan Hastie and guitarist Sergio Rios who started creating classic sounds as green teens brought together by a mutual affinity for raw soul recordings. Members of Orgone have collaborated/performed with the Roots, Al Green, Gil Scott-Heron, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Breakestra, Thievery Corporation, and the Monophonics. As tight in the studio as they are on stage, …as the backing band on Cee Lo Green’s multiple Grammy Award-winning track “Fool for You” and Alicia Keys’ “As I Am” album.

Up front and unmistakable is Adryon de Leon, Orgone’s lightning rod, whose hearty, agile vocals are an intoxicating foil to the gritty intensity of the band. Orgone is currently getting their hands dirty in KillionSound, their Fortress of Soulitude, injecting the pure, passionate heat of their live sound into wax. Throughout this year, the band will maintain a strong touring presence while tantalizing crowds with new material from their upcoming album, which was released into the wild in the Fall of 2014.

ACORN PROJECT @ 4 PEAKS FESTIVAL

The Rockin' A Ranch, 19449 Tumalo Resevoir Rd, Bend

With very little musical boundaries, Acorn Project takes their audience on a unique journey each night. Seamlessly blending deep electro-funk grooves, psychedelic rock, signature soundscapes, and electronic dance music translates to a very unique live experience, one that is filled with the passion brought to the stage at every Acorn performance. That passion is contagious, resulting in the regularly packed houses for this jamtronica act and a high demand tour schedule. “Acorn Project, who conjures up the appealing marriage of mid-period Pink Floyd, early Radiohead, and the blues-jazz-dub whap of Morphine… cuts a broad cloth that could fit classic rockers, jam fans, electro freaks and jazz heads with taste for prog. Often mélanges of this kind come out mushy and indistinct, too many ingredients dulling the sharpness of individual elements, but Acorn’s production and arrangement savvy keep things bright and together throughout. A hard touring bunch… unlike many road dogs, they clearly know their way around a studio, too.” In the past several years Acorn Project have appeared live at numerous music festivals including Earthdance (California), Sonic Bloom (Colorado), String Cheese Incident @ Horning’s Hideout (Oregon), Summer Meltdown Festival (Washington), Telus Live @ Whistler (BC), Seattle Hempfest, and Eugene Celebration amongst many others including their own successful annual festival productions WONK and UMF at home. Now with over 700 performances and a fervent fanbase in major U.S. markets like Seattle, Portland, Denver and San Francisco, Acorn continues to grow into a mighty oak from deeply seeded roots. Up and coming, always on the brink, Acorn Project is focused on establishing themselves as a national touring act while continuing to spawn a forward thinking and conscious movement amongst the community in their wake.
