NECKTIE KILLER @ MCMENAMINS OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL (FREE SHOW)

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

Necktie Killer is an independent, grass roots, 7 piece rock band out of Bend, Oregon. The best cliche to describe this band is ‘rugged, yet refined.’ The often crass yet somehow eloquent lyrical content combines with exquisite musical arrangement, catchy melodies, and myriad stylistic influences to create a unique musical experience.

Like a close friend with a drinking problem, this band will punch you and kiss you all in the same night. NtK has played shows all over the west coast and is steadily building a fan base. They released their debut album, Heavy and Horny in 2013, which has a plethora of rock genres kneaded into a ska foundation.

The band’s favorite things to do are keeping it rude and keeping it really, really rude. If you’re cool with that, then there is almost certainly something in their versatile arsenal of songs that you will find appealing.

ELEKTRAPOD @ MCMENAMINS' OLD ST FRANCIS SCHOOL HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION

McMenamins' Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St, Bend, Oregon, US

The band is the brain child of guitarist Gabe Johnson aka Dr. Pocket (Jive Talkin' Robots, Soulwork, El Dante) and keyboardist Brad Jones aka KEEZ (FloorRide, Keegan Smith & The Fam, Tony Smiley/MOWO). Formed with the vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Disco and Riff Rock w/ Electronica and Jamband sensibilities, Gabe and Brad aimed from the start to create a band that would truly stand out in their home market of Bend, Oregon and would also be strong enough to hold their own with regional and national acts. There is no doubt that they have accomplished just that in a very short time, truly impressing every single audience they've performed in front of thus far. Tapping Matt Smith (Biddewah Trunk) on drums, Cameron Harris (Realize) on bass, Jarrod Donatelli (2nd Hand Soldiers, El Dante) on percussion and uber-talented young diva Ze Rox (Jaccuzi) on vocals, they have assembled a truly colorful collection of players, all of whom have tremendous chops and experience, as well as strong creative presence and drive. ElektraPod's repertoire is being built from the original works of Gabe Johnson, Brad Jones and Ze Rox and yet the band has also found group-writing very productive and rewarding, drawing on a lot of magic and synergy in a very short time. After their breakout performances at Deschutes Brewery's 25th Anniversary Concert, Bend Roots Revival 2013, Bite of Bend (headliner) & Cruxapalooza, Elektrapod is quickly becoming known as one of the hottest live bands to have ever emerged from the Central Oregon area. Come check out what all the fuss is about !

REBIRTH BRASS BAND @ DOMINO ROOM

The Domino Room, 51 Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR

Whether seen on HBO’s Treme or at their legendary Tuesday night gig at The Maple Leaf, Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band is a true New Orleans institution. Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. While committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands, they’ve also extended themselves into the realms of funk and hip-hop to create their signature sound. “Rebirth can be precise whenever it wants to,” says The New York Times, “but it’s more like a party than a machine. It’s a working model of the New Orleans musical ethos: as long as everybody knows what they’re doing, anyone can cut loose.” In the wake of the sometimes- stringent competition amongst New Orleans brass bands, Rebirth is the undisputed leader of the pack, and they show no signs of slowing down.
